FEDERATION OF AFRICAN MEDICAL STUDENT ASSOCIATION (FAMSA)
The Federation of African Medical Students’ Associations (Fédération des Associations des Étudiants en Médecine), known as FAMSA, was established in 1968. It is an independent, non-political consortium of Medical Students’ Associations across Africa. FAMSA aims to foster a strong bond and cooperation among African medical students and serves as the official international platform for their engagement.
FAMSA provides a forum for medical students across the continent to deliberate on health, education, and medical issues, developing actionable plans and initiatives. It facilitates professional exchange and project collaboration, advocating for policies that support sustainable health and development in Africa. Additionally, FAMSA helps member organizations secure funding for endorsed projects. Our motto is “Towards the improvement of health in Africa…”
FAMSA aspires to maintain a robust network of medical students who are informed about global health challenges and responsive to contemporary issues within the medical profession. With over 47 member countries in Africa and partnerships with institutions in Australia and Scotland, FAMSA is committed to enhancing health outcomes on the continent.
